Project context

The Architecture of Silence

We documented architect Matei Ionescu’s workspace, exploring the relationship between people and the environments they design. We focused on quiet moments, the straight lines of the office, and the way morning light turns dust into texture.

Presence in space

The portraits aren’t staged; we let our subject move freely at his own pace. We sought that state of absolute concentration, when gestures become automatic and the gaze gets lost in sketches. It’s a study of form and function, translated into the language of photography.

We chose to use high contrast to highlight the structure of the face and its features, alongside the sharp angles of the models in the background. This duality underscores the inseparable bond between creator and creation.

The geometry of silence

Each image in this editorial series is part of a visual whole. We invite you to look beyond the face, to the hands that shape the future and the objects that define a disciplined way of life.

Simplicity isn’t a goal, but the result of a deep understanding of space.

We worked exclusively with natural light and rejected any artificial source that might have changed the studio’s authentic atmosphere. This choice made us more attentive to the passage of time and subtle shifts in tone.

The project was published in the spring issue of Scena Magazine and was praised for capturing the essence of the design process without visual clichés.
