Project context
Shadows in the Botanical Garden
We explored the interplay between the natural textures of linen and the harsh midday light in the old greenhouses. The project for Aethel Studio grew out of the need to showcase the new collection in a setting that wouldn’t distract from the cut, but instead emphasize it through contrast.
Light and texture
We chose to work with geometric shadows, using the greenhouses’ metal framework to create rhythm across the surface of the fabrics. We weren’t looking for perfection, but for the way light settles into the natural folds of the garments, giving the viewer a tactile sensation.
Each frame was designed to work on its own, as well as part of a cohesive whole. We avoided any decorative elements that might clutter the composition, keeping the focus on the balance between fabric and skin.
The creative process
We spent hours studying the angles of the sun before beginning the actual shoot. This preparation allowed us to capture the moments when light becomes almost solid, defining the volume of the garments in an almost architectural way.
- Studying natural light in enclosed spaces
- Focus on fabric details
- Minimalist composition
The result is a series of images that breathe, where negative space plays a role just as important as the main subject. You can see how each frame retains the film’s fine grain, adding visual depth.
If you’re looking for an aesthetic that highlights the tactile quality of your products, we can talk about how light can transform the way your brand is presented.
